5/11 - Select Mailing Attends the National Postal Forum - Select Mailing attended the premier educational event and tradeshow available to mail professionals today. The National Postal Forum was the place to be May 1st – 4th (in beautiful San Diego) for all companies that have anything to do with using mail and the products and services of the United States Postal Service. The NPF is a complete education in the "Business of Mail."

4/11 - Select Mailing Sponsors San Diego Hospice 5K Walk & Fun Run - 4/11 - Select Mailing Sponsors San Diego Hospice 5K Walk & Fun Run – Select Mailing again partnered with the San Diego Hospice on Saturday April 2, 2011 to support the SD Hospice Melisa & Kaye’s Memorial 5K Walk & Fun Run. The event drew over 1,350 participants and raised over $110,000 to help fund the mission of the SD Hospice - preventing and relieving suffering and promoting quality of life, at every stage of life.

3/11 - Select Mailing Sponsors Better Business Bureau (BBB) Event - Select Mailing, three time BBB Torch Award finalist, was the lead sponsor at the March 3, 2011 Better Business Bureau B2B Mixer event. The BBB mixer, which attracted over 200 companies, helped to promote business between BBB accredited members and also help to support the BBB Foundation.

2/11 - Select Mailing Goes Social - Connect with Select Mailing on our new social media pages - On our Facebook page, you'll find pictures of Select Mailing events, videos and direct mail news you can use, we'll also post specials for our "friends" here! 1/11 - Select Mailing Becomes SD Opera Sponsor - Select Mailing has partnered with the San Diego Opera as an Advisory Level member of the San Diego Opera’s 2011 Corporate Council and an Advisory Level Sponsor of the “Student Nights at the Opera”, a program that enables schoolchildren from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to participate, free of charge, in the “Student Nights at the Opera” education program. The San Diego Opera has been a loyal client of Select Mailing for over eleven years.

12/10 - Select Mailing Makes Christmas Contribution to The San Diego Rescue Mission - In what has become an annual company tradition, Select Mailing made a contribution to The San Diego Rescue Mission to help fund the extensive work this vital organization performs serving the homeless and less fortunate San Diegans. The San Diego Rescue Mission is a non-profit homeless shelter and recovery center serving thousands of homeless, hungry, and poor men, women, and children in San Diego since 1955.

11/10 - Select Mailing Extends Lease & Upgrades Facility - Select Mailing has executed a five (5) year extension of its’ facilities lease of 9,000 square feet at 5630 Kearny Mesa Road in San Diego. Accompanying the extension, Select Mailing has expanded the office space and made extensive renovations to the existing office space, allowing for the continued growth of the company.

10/10 - Direct Mail is Even “Cool” to "Cool People" - Direct Mail got a shout out from leading opinion site The Huffington Post recently. In her editorial, marketing expert, author and public speaker Sarah O'Leary reminds marketers that email’s "efficiency without effectiveness" can be wasteful. Consumers now inundated with unwanted email are digitally throwing out the spam while today's direct mail is more apt to be opened and read. According to O'Leary, "To reach your consumers in the internet age, sometimes you have to lick a few stamps". (Source: Deliver Magazine, August 2010)

8/10 - Select Mailing Expands Variable Data Printing Capacity - As client demand has moved ever increasingly toward variable data printing, Select Mailing doubled our capacity of full color variable data print devices. Supplied through Select Mailing premier partner, Signa Digital Solutions, the new VDP equipment allows Select Mailing to improve turnaround times and provide our clients with a higher quality output.

7/10 - Direct Mail Beating E-Mail for Young Adults - In a recent study, ICOM surveyed over 2500 U.S. and 2200 Canadian households, specifically targeting consumers in the 18-34 year-old demographic. The study found that these consumers overwhelmingly preferred—by two to three times—to learn about marketing offers via postal mail and newspapers, rather than online sources such as social media sites.

"A key take-away from this research is that marketers targeting coveted 18-34 year olds who are tempted to invest solely in social media could be missing a significant portion of their audience," said Warren Storey , vice president of ICOM.”

Even the edge online had over offline began to erode in 2010: trust. Thirty-six percent of U.S. respondents, across all ages, trust the mail more than email—up from 29 percent in 2008. And while only 19 percent said online information can't be trusted in 2008, that percentage increased to 25 percent in 2010.

Lastly, most folks believe they're getting hit more from the e-mail sector than direct mail. "The finding that only 25 percent of respondents perceive they're getting more postal mail compared to a year ago, while nearly three times that amount say they're getting more e-mail, is telling," Storey concluded, "and signals to marketers there is an opportunity to gain key consumers' attention and interest by using the direct mail channel."

- Select Mailing Entertains Clients and Partners at Our Annual Open House –
Select Mailing held their annual open house June 10, 2010, which was highly attended by clients, prospects and partners.  Tours were conducted through the Select Mailing facility to help clients better understand the mailing process and a catered lunch was enjoyed by all.  Prize drawings, including a digital camera, Sea World passes, Padre tickets and a variety of gift cards topped off a great day.

5/10 - Select Mailing Expands Production Capacity – Select Mailing has partnered with Bowe Bell & Howell and doubled its’ automated inserting capacity by acquiring additional equipment.  Necessitated by customer demand, the additional production capacity enables Select Mailing to shorten lead times and increase production efficiency.

4/10 - Select Mailing adds Premier Resorts to Client Roster – Select Mailing has added two long time famed resorts to its’ client roster – The Arizona Biltmore, in Phoenix Arizona and The La Quinta Resort & Spa in La Quinta (Palm Springs) California.  Both hotels are five star properties and are using Select Mailing to help support their marketing efforts.

3/10 - Select Mailing Supports the San Diego Hospice Camp Erin – Select Mailing has joined with the San Diego Hospice to support Camp Erin, a grief support camp for children and teens.  Camp Erin is an annual weeklong camp, offered at no charge, to kids from 6 to 17 who’ve experienced the death of a loved one.

2/10 - Select Mailing Forms Strategic Partnership with Signa Digital Solutions - Select Mailing has joined with Signa Digital Solutions, San Diego’s premier supplier of Canon imaging equipment, to expand our variable data printing capabilities in response to client demand.

11/09 - Select Mailing Sponsors Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of San Diego – Select Mailing sponsored the November 18, 2009 meeting of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning of San Diego (“PPSD”).  The PPSD creates channels of communication for planned giving practitioners and provides a forum for Partnership members to discuss planned giving and promote philanthropy.

10/09 - Select Mailing Sponsors Home of Guiding Hands Golf Tournament – Select Mailing co-sponsored the 27th annual Home of Guiding Hands (“HGH”) Pro-Am Golf Tournament.  Home of Guiding Hands is a nonprofit organization that provides quality residential support and training services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

9/09 - Select Mailing Continues to Expand Sales & Marketing Team – Select Mailing has announced the addition of Jerry Kochka to their sales and marketing team.  Jerry, a graduate of Bethel College in St. Paul, MN, has over 24 years of business to business experience in the San Diego marketplace and is great addition to the Select Mailing team.

8/09 - Select Mailing Conducts Customer Appreciation BBQ – Select Mailing held their annual customer appreciation barbeque on August 28 to thank their loyal customers and key business partners.  Attendees enjoyed great food after touring the Select Mailing production facility.

7/09 - Select Mailing Launches New Website – Select Mailing has announced the launch of their new website at www.selectmailing.com. This user friendly site contains great informational and practical tools for customers and prospects to utilize. Partnering with Amplify Interactive, Select Mailing completely overhauled their website with the primary objective of offering better information about the company and its services, as well as providing great information and resources that benefit customers and prospects.

5/09 - Select Mailing Implements Communications Infrastructure Improvements – Select Mailing announced the installation of T1 data lines and a toll free phone number (877.281.MAIL) to help speed the processing of mail projects and to improve and simplify customer communications.

4/09 - Select Mailing Conducts Open House - Select Mailing held their annual open house April 8, 2009, which was highly attended by clients and partners. Tours through the Select Mailing processing facility helped clients better understand the steps in processing their mailing and fulfillment projects. Following the tours, a catered lunch and prize drawings were enjoyed by all.

3/09 - Select Mailing Expands Data Department – Select Mailing announced the addition of Daisy Ramirez to their team of data specialists to help speed processing times and meet the deadlines of their clients. Daisy, a SDSU grad, had previously worked for the IRS, where she worked extensively with data; (yours and ours) but we won’t hold that against her!

3/09 - Select Mailing Initiates Redundant Data Facility – Select Mailing announced the installation of a redundant data facility to meet the increasing data security needs of its clients. This facility has significantly increased security and safety for the Select Mailing IT department and Select Mailing’s customers.

2/09 - Select Mailing Expands Sales and Marketing Team - Select Mailing announced the addition of Megan Knight to their sales and marketing team. Megan, a SDSU grad, worked previously on the corporate staff of Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp and brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Select Mailing team.

1/09 - Select Mailing Makes IT Upgrades – Select Mailing announced significant upgrades in their information technology infrastructure, enabling faster data processing rates and improved project turnaround times.

1/09 - Select Mailing Announces Partnership with Pitney Bowes – Select Mailing announced a partnership with Pitney Bowes, Inc. for supplying a variety of mail processing equipment over a thirty-six month period.

12/08 - Select Mailing Hires new VP of Operations – Select Mailing announced that it has hired Nick Garbarini to fill the newly created position of VP of Operations. Garbarini was previously COO of Ford Financial Services, Inc. and the CEO and co-founder of FINS Mexican Eateries.
